Moving slowly as I photograph, I am guided by intuition. I listen and feel with my eyes. The camera seems to vanish (or perhaps it is I who disappears) and our eye discovers the otherwise overlooked object, the seemingly unseen moment. We give permanence to the otherwise discarded, the otherwise ephemeral.
My experience of making a picture is one of solitude, of stillness, of trust. It is my perception that the scenes I photograph exist nowhere else. They may not exist at all, except as they are in my camera. They are my prize, my secret, my reward for slowing down, for looking.
All photographs are available for purchase.
Gwynne is available for hire for editorial assignments and special commissions.
